What Chemical Peels is
A chemical peel uses a medical-grade acid solution to remove damaged surface layers of skin in a controlled way, so fresher, more even skin can surface. At Estetika we work with several systems, VI Peel, Perfect Derma, ZO 3-Step and BioRePeel, because depth and formula should match your skin and your calendar, not the other way around. Peels treat sun damage, dark spots, melasma, acne marks, fine lines and overall dullness, and range from lunchtime-light to deeply transformative.
How it works
The acid loosens the bonds holding damaged cells at the surface, triggering an organized shedding over the following days. Underneath, the skin responds by accelerating renewal and producing fresh collagen. Different acids reach different depths, which is how we tune intensity, salicylic for oil and acne, TCA blends for pigment and lines.
The procedure, step by step
Skin is cleansed and degreased, then the solution is applied in layers while your esthetician watches how your skin responds. You feel warmth and tingling, intense for a couple of minutes with stronger formulas. Some peels neutralize in-office, others keep working and are washed off at home hours later per instructions. In-chair time is 30 to 45 minutes.
What to expect after
Depending on depth, expect visible flaking or sheeting for roughly 3 to 7 days, usually starting around day two or three. Skin may look tight and slightly darker before it sheds. Do not pull peeling skin, and treat sunscreen as medicine during recovery.
Results and maintenance
The reveal comes when the peel finishes: brighter tone, softer texture, faded spots, and makeup that sits better on skin. Pigment work usually needs a short series, two to four peels spaced about a month apart, and the results build with each round. Many clients then do a maintenance peel once or twice a year.
Care and limits, honestly
Sun exposure during recovery can create the exact pigmentation you came to fix, this is non-negotiable aftercare. Some skin tones and melasma cases need pre-treatment preparation to peel safely; the consultation decides that. Cold-sore-prone clients should tell us in advance.
